Resource Manager XT

Overview

Resource Manager XT is an XTension for QuarkXPress which can increase one’s

productivity by managing all the resources at one place. User can open, drag n drop

search, apply attributes from the single point that is Resource Manager Palette. Now there

is no need to go again and again for browsing and searching resources before importing

them into text box or picture box as now everything is available at one place. User can

have any kind of file resources like - QuarkXPress Documents, Images, Word Documents,

PDF Documents, text file, etc.

User can sort these resource by name, creation date and by modified date. It will display

50 resources in each tab by default though it can be controlled via Preference settings and

it also provides next/previous navigation buttons to display rest of the resources.

It also provides many attribute/property settings in each tab on the basis of file types to

ease user's work. These can be set once and will be applicable to all next drag n drop/

import resources.

It is collapsable palette, user can double click on title bar to collapse and expand it.

It is providing following features to ease your task-

1- Segregation of resources

1- Segregation of resources

Resource Manager XT iterates all the files placed at root folder and its sub folders and

segregate them by file types. It will display 50 resources in each tab by default although it

can be controlled via Preference settings and it also provides next/previous navigation

buttons to display rest of the resources.

There are 5 default resources. However user can define more as per users needs, you

just need to define them in preferences.

Following are 5 defaults resources-

A- QXP Document

B- PDF Document

C- Images Files

D- MS Word Files

E- Text Files

A- QXP Documents

All the QuarkXPress documents will be listed the in first tab of Resource Manager

palette.

It provides some output options in QXP tab like-

(i) Split Layout Pages: Split the selected or currently active layout’s pages

into new QuarkXPress projects for provided pages range.

(ii) Split Project Layouts: Separates each layout of selected/active project

into separate projects.

(iii) Output Options: Output to any file format directly from the palette in

following formats-

1- PDF

2- HTML 5 Publication

3- Image

4- iOS App

5- Android App

6- ePub

7- Kindle

8- Article

9- EPS

(iv) - Delete QXP document directly from the palette.

Preview: User can see preview of currently selected document as well as other

documents via provided next/previous navigation buttons.

Open: User can open document directly from palette in its native application.

More Info: User can see more details of document like- Number of pages in the

document, document version, flow version, document type, width, height, etc.

B- PDF Documents

All the PDF documents will be listed in the 2nd Tab of Resource Manager Palette

and provides following options to ease the work.

(i) Create QXP Project from PDF: Create project of selected PDF directly with/

without apply convert to native object and apply fit PDF fettings.

(ii) Import into Box: Import PDF into box with PDF import settings like- page

number and media box.

(iii) Fit PDF Settings: Provides the following settings to apply the imported PDF in

the box.

1- None

2- Center PDF in Box

3- Scale PDF to Fit Box

4- Scale PDF to Fill Box

5- Fit Box to PDF

6- Stretch PDF to Fit Box

(iv) Convert To Native Object Settings: User can apply following options before

converted to native objects.

1- Retain Source Picture Box

2- Ignore Soft Masks

3- Ignore Tranessparent Blend Modes

4- Ignore Profile from Source Colors

5- Link Raster Images

Preview: User can see preview of currently selected document as well as other

documents via provided next/previous navigation buttons.

Open: User can open document directly from palette in its native application.

More Info: User can see more details of document like- Number of Pages in the

Document, Major Version, Minor Version, Document Encryption, Creator,Creation

Date, Producer etc.

C- Images Files

In this tab all the images related files will be displayed like- png, jpg, jpeg, tiff, pict,

icns, etc.

Fit Image Settings: User can apply following settings directly while import/drag n

drop images into the box and user can also apply these settings on already

imported picture box.

1- Centre Picture

2- Stretch Picture to Fit Box

3- Scale Picture to Fit Box

4- Scale Picture to Fill Box

5- Fit Box To Picture

6- Flip Picture Horizontal

7- Flip Picture Vertical

D- MSWord Documents

All the Microsoft word documents like docx, doc, rtf, rtfd will be listed in MS Word

tab.

Import MS word document Settings: The following settings can applied while

import/drag n drop MS Word documents into the box.

1- Convert Quotes

2- Include Style Sheets

3- Include Hyperlinks

4- Include Inline Pictures

5- Include Tables

6- Import footnotes

7- Include as Static Footnotes

E- Text Files

All the QXP supported documents like txt and xtg will listed in Text Files tab.

Plain Text Settings: Followings are the options which can applied while

importing/drag n drop txt/xtg file into the box.

1- Provided two options Encoding and Convert Quotes on importing txt, xtg,

html files

2- Drag n drop these files to text box with these options

2- Live Update Resources

Resource Manager XT listens the root folder and its sub folders in background

whenever there is any file added or deleted. It detect newly added/deleted files and

update them in their corresponding resource tab.

As mentioned before it listens root folder in the backgroud so that user can continue to

do their work without waiting to finish the resource updation.

3- Drag n Drop resources

User can drag n drop any resource into text/picture box or double click on any resource

to import into selected box along with all the selected attributes/properties by the user.

4- Finding/Searching Contents

User can find/search files by its name or by its contents. It runs IntelliSense in

background to collect all the required info which helps to find file by its contents. Even

user can search QXP files by its contents.

XT has provided an option in Preference to enable find contents in QXP documents. By

default this option is disabled as some QXP document might have placed in folder in

corrupted state. You just need to make sure that all the available QXP documents are

in readable state and will not crash while collecting required information from the

document.

5- Preference Settings

Provided a preference with name "Resource Manager XT" under QuarkXPress Preference dialog

in which user can

1- Enable "Allow Search in QXP Documents" to search QXP files by its contents

2- Manger resources by adding/deleting resource file types.

3- Define number of resources to be displayed in each resource tab. By default it is 50

resources to be displayed in each tab

6- Resource Manager XT Installation Path

Please install the Resource Manager XT in their respective XTension folder of QuarkXPress version.
